Ashley & “Emmy”

Emmy’s Success Story —

I am so happy that Emmy and I were able to do the RPR program with Jenna and Shelly. She is a completely different dog compared to 12 weeks ago. She used to be easily triggered, barking at anything we passed and unable to disengage. She was shy and somewhat fearful of people outside of our family. We now know a safe distance we can be at to stay below Emmy’s threshold, this keeps her from barking and lunging and being unable to disengage. She is also more welcoming to new people in the house. This weekend she even jumped on the couch and sat next to someone she just meet and demanded pets. She would have never done this 12 weeks ago. Overall, Emmy is a much happier and more confident girl. I am also a better handler because I know her stress signals and now know when it’s time to go.

The weekly calls were very helpful. Shelly gave great feedback on the videos that helped improve our training. It was also nice seeing videos of the other teams and hearing the feedback they got. Many of times other teams would asks questions that were helpful to my training as well.

I loved the logs. The training log has really showed Emmy’s triggers and her progress. The enrichment log has been helpful as well. We have been doing much more enrichment and both dog look forward to enrichment. I also found the worksheets very helpful. I would usually look over them prior to going out and doing an activity as a refresher.

I thought it was very helpful to have the modules broken down into smaller chunks. It made it easy to watch a lesson, do the activity, get feedback from the trainer and then implement the feedback. It never felt overwhelming.
