Kora’s Success Story —

[Before Team Kora joined the RRP,] Kora was triggered by just about all noises, especially those that caused a sudden change in the environment. Cars, house creaking or someone walking upstairs, beeps, sounds on the telephone or television etc. The list was quite extensive, and frankly overwhelming. Additionally, Kora had recently become increasingly reactive to seeing unfamiliar people or dogs even at a distance.  All of this combined made it so that our world, and in turn Kora’s world had become very very small.  We couldn’t leave her at the house because of her separation anxiety, she wouldn’t even allow us into another room if she couldn’t see us.   And we couldn’t continue taking her on walks in our usual places due to her reactivity.  She was also reactive to visuals and sounds while in the car as well.

[Now] Kora is now on medication for her noise sensitivity and overall anxiety.  She has overcome so many of her noise triggers, many of which impacted her in the house.  She no longer minds when she is alone in a room in the house, she is able to watch/listen to a few television without being triggered, she is ok with the vacuum, the peloton, with the gardeners that come every week, and most familiar sounds outside in our backyard including neighbors talking and moving around!

Kora’s reactivity in the car has greatly improved as well, she is able to look at most triggers including people and then reference back to us or just lay down in the backseat.
Kora’s recovery after a trigger is miniscule compared to where she once was.  Her days are not ruined by one or two triggers, and she is much happier. She chooses to relax more often, engages in play more, and just overall seems more receptive to new information and new experiences.

We feel more confident in what Kora is capable of, and who she is at her core.  She is an incredibly intelligent and eager to please pupper, and she loves to be loved and praised. She acclimates to a variety of situations and has done well in adjusting to so many difficult situations.

Armed with the knowledge available to us in the recovering rover modules, we feel we can continue to support and provide opportunities for Kora to thrive and sustain growth in her journey to opening up her world even more.

We have most definitely improved our overall bond and understanding with Kora.  She communicates so so much to us on a daily basis, and loves when we understand her!  It’s a great feeling to know that she trusts us enough to help her.

Jenna is one of a kind.  Passionate, intelligent, hard working, and most importantly, compassionate.  We needed her, and she showed up.

We felt supported and feel as though we now have an endless supply of support and information to continue carrying us through. We really enjoyed the visuals that the worksheets provide and the example videos!

[The RRP] equipped us and challenged us, and Jenna’s one on one support is unmatched.

What would you say to someone who wants to join the RRP but is on the fence at the moment?

Do it, just do it.  It’s a plethora of helpful information, and a supportive community that allows for some healing in the process.
